CHIRP

Download the Latest Build

RepeaterBook has offered CHIRP support since 2011. RepeaterBook offers importing from within the CHIRP program directly from Repeaterbook.com or by exporting from Repeaterbook.com and manually importing to CHIRP.

Importing from within CHIRP is extremely easy, but the search options are somewhat limited. More customized searches can be completed within Repeaterbook.com and transferred to CHIRP.

Importing from Within CHIRP

Steps:

  1. Download the latest build from the CHIRP website
  2. Install and launch CHIRP
  3. From the menu at the top of the screen, select Radio » Query data source » RepeaterBook

  4. Select the parameters you would like to download

  5. A list of all the repeaters downloaded will be shown in an edit box where you can select and modify the repeaters you want.

Exporting from Repeaterbook.com

From nearly any search from within, RepeaterBook is an export menu item. You must be logged in to have access to it.

  1. Conduct a repeater search from within Repeaterbook.com
  2. From the export menu, choose CHIRP. A .csv file will open
  3. Choose a location to save it to your computer
  4. Launch CHIRP
  5. Open a previously save memory file from CHIRP or conduct a “Download from Radio” from the Radio menu
  6. Select Import from the File menu (this will be grayed out of you skipped step 5

  7. A list of all the repeaters downloaded will be shown in an edit box where you can select and modify the repeaters you want.

Exporting Web Searches

More customized searches can be produced from the RepeaterBook Website than from within the CHIRP software. Many of these search queries can be exported to a format suitable for importing into the CHIRP software.

Export Notes

Many users have noticed there is sometimes a discrepancy between the number of rows shown on the website versus what is actually exported. This is caused by the export working to remove any repeaters that operate in modes that are not supported by the radio, such as DMR.

Developer Notes

  • CHIRP will not accept the 1750 Hz tone burst in the PL field.
  • CHIRP is limited to 1000 repeaters on import. All queries are limited.
  • CHIRP automatically sets all power outputs to a minimum.
