Information Confidence Rating

Each area on RepeaterBook is assigned an Information Confidence Rating to provide users with an assessment of the accuracy and reliability of the repeater data in that region. This rating is calculated based on several parameters, which evaluate the frequency of updates, the involvement of local admins, and the quality of the coordination process.

Parameters of the Confidence Rating

The confidence rating is determined using the following criteria:

1. Percentage of Repeaters Not Updated in the Past Two Years:

  • A score ranging from 1 to 10 is assigned based on how many repeaters in the area have not been updated in two years. A higher percentage of outdated repeaters results in a lower score.

2. Percentage of Unknown Operational Status Repeaters Updated in the Past Two Years:

  • A score ranging from 1 to 10 based on how many repeaters with an unknown operational status have received updates within the last two years. Higher update activity results in a higher score.

3. Accuracy of Online Coordinating Authority Repeater Database:

  • A score from 0 to 10 is assigned based on how accurate and reliable the coordinating authority's repeater database is.

4. Automation of Repeater Adds and Updates from a Coordination Authority:

  • A score of 0 or 5 is assigned depending on whether repeater data is automatically updated via integration with a coordinating authority's database. Automation receives a higher score.

5. Coordination Member Consults Local Admins:

  • A score of 0 or 5 is given based on whether local admins are consulted during repeater coordination.

6. Lists Uncoordinated Repeaters:

  • A score of 0 or 1 is assigned based on whether the area includes uncoordinated repeaters in its listings.

7. Percentage of Updates by Admins in the Last Year Versus Total Repeaters:

  • A score ranging from 0 to 10, reflecting how active admins have been in updating repeater records over the past year relative to the total number of repeaters.

8. Percentage of Updates by Non-Admins in the Last Year Versus Total Repeaters:

  • A score ranging from 0 to 10, reflecting the level of participation by general users in submitting updates over the past year.

9. Percentage of Repeater Record Custodians (RRCs) to Total Listed Repeaters:

  • A score ranging from 0 to 10, based on how many repeaters have a designated RRC relative to the total number of repeaters in the area.

Scoring and Interpretation

1. High Confidence (80-100):

  • Areas with frequent updates, active admin involvement, and reliable coordination data.

2. Moderate Confidence (50-79):

  • Areas with some outdated data or limited admin/user activity.

3. Low Confidence (0-49):

  • Areas with infrequent updates, unverified data, or minimal local admin involvement.

Purpose of the Confidence Rating

The Information Confidence Rating helps users:

  1. Understand the reliability of repeater data in a specific area.
  2. Identify areas where repeater data may require updates or verification.
  3. Highlight regions with active local admins and repeater custodians.

This rating also encourages admins, RRCs, and users to contribute updates and maintain accurate repeater records, improving the overall quality of RepeaterBook’s database.
